This calculator estimates the time at which a higher-priced but more energy-efficient piece of equipment
will break even with a lower-priced but less energy-efficient piece of equipment. From that point on, the
higher-priced item will become more cost effective.
The extra heat generated by the less energy-efficient option is not considered. This extra heat, if
significant, will lower the power consumption of your heater and increase the power consumption of your
chiller.
Additionally, this calculator does not account for the fact that your electrical company will round your
bill up to the nearest 0.01 every billing cycle. Depending on how often you are billed (i.e. monthly,
quarterly), this can lead to a discrepency of between 0.00 - 0.12 per year.
