Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens)
+ November 26, 2009
This tang continues to do well. He used to be somewhat aggressive, but seems to have relaxed recently.

The yellow tang is continuing to fare well. It is the boldest fish in the tank and will even approach me when I am working in
the tank.

The Yellow Tang is one of the most popular salt-water fish in the aquarium trade. They can grow to 8" long and require a large
tank to provide them with ample swimming room. These herbivorous fish are naturally found in large roaming schools. Although
bright yellow during the day, at night these fish develop a brown patch accompanied by a horizontal white stripe across their
body.
Yellow Tangs are reasonably hardy, but like all Tangs they are somewhat susceptible to marine Ich.
I purchased this specimen to replace the yellow tang I lost in the tank crash. It's a little larger than I wanted to start off
with, but I got a good deal on it. This specimen is very active and doesn't appear to be skittish at all.
