Purple Frilly Gorgonian (Pseudopterogorgia bipinnata)

I have severely trimmed back this gorgonian. I was beginning to see some necrosis on the tips and I suspected that it may have been due to the fish constantly bumping into it.

Polyp extension is reasonable with this gorgonian. However, some of the branch tips have begun to hang down. They're still stiff though. Perhaps the gorgonian is repositioning them.

The purple frilly gorgonian is again showing close to zero polyp expansion recently. I have slightly repositioned it so that it receives more light. I suspect that my new Orange Spot Rabbitfish may be nibbling at it although I have yet to observe this in person.

The purple frilly gorgonian appears to be strongly affected by my clogged return-pump issue; it's showing zero polyp expansion right now.

This appears to be a fairly hardy photosynthetic gorgonian. The polyp extension seen in the picture required only an overnight acclimation. I can't find much information about this species other than the usual: good lighting and strong water flow. I expect that it benefits from target feeding but I'm not sure what particulate size range to use.

This was actually sold to me as a "small" specimen.
