+ May 19, 2009

I decided to sell this monticap. My Idaho Grape Monticap has better color and is a faster grower.

Not much change with this monticap. It hasn't grown much and the color hasn't really improved.

Montipora capricornis (or "Monticaps") are among the hardiest of short-polyped-stony (SPS) corals available in the hobby. However, they still require good lighting, excellent water conditions, moderate flow, and maintained calcium & alkalinity levels to grow. They are sometimes referred to as "Vase" corals because of their unusual "cup-like" growth pattern.

This specimen is actually more purple than it appears in this picture.
