Mermaid's Fan (Udotea sp.)

Unfortunately a 40% water change I did a few weeks ago wiped out my Mermaid's Fan.

It had been fairing poorly anyway. It sent forth a number of new shoots but each of these would slowly become covered in coralline algae in dissolve away.

I'm not sure how well the mermaid's fan is doing. It hasn't grown any but it has sent forth three new shoots.

I have added two of these calcerous macro-algaes to the refugium. They have a holdfast/root structure similar to the pencil caps.

It looks like the larger specimen has some other kind of algae growing on it as well.
