Monitoring Equipment

+ August 15, 2008

I'm using three American Marine Pinpoint monitors hooked up permanently to the system. Starting from the left I have the pH Monitor, the Salinity Monitor, and the Digital Wireless Thermometer. All the units need to have their probes cleaned monthly. The pH Monitor requires monthly calibration and even then the probe (not the monitor) must be replaced every 18 months.

The Digital Wireless Thermometer displays readings from three seperate wireless transmitters. I have all the transmitter probes in the sump. Two of the them are identical while one differs by around 0.4 F.

I use SeaChem test kits to measure ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, alkalinity, phosphates, silicates, iodine, and calcium. These tests are a little tedious to perform and I only carry them out as needed.
